Word Thwart sounds almost identically as Lithuanian words "Tverti" - to fence (noun form "Tvora" - the fence). Lithuanian has a group of words with this root. "Tvartas" - the barn, literally means a place to keep cattle which needs to be fenced.

Lithe ... In lithuanian "laisvas" sounds exactly the same. The meaning is also almost identical to the usage of the word in certain situations

Word is suprisingly similiar to lithuanian word "nusi-vagoti".

Meaning of "nusivagoti" is to depart from straight course when achieving certain goals. The literal meaning is to depart from straigh line when ploughing.
