Lime = (la) lima
Lemon = (el) limón.

Brazilian dude
In Mexico, they flip it and lime is el limón while lemon is la lima.
Go figure, right? I learned that from food shopping in Ciudad Acuña... fun place if anyone is ever near the Del Rio, TX area.

"You think that the time happens slowly for you" You caught the "ti" mistake. I didn't mean it, I swear! :) What I wrote does literally translate into that, but it actually means "Do you think time passes slowly for you?" It's the basic jist of what needs to be said, s...

Re: Innernet

...Northern NJ is the only place I remember seeing those jug-handle intersections for making left turns. Granted, that's true... but I'm from Joisey , so I'm used to those... Everyone should have jug-handled turns! You seemingly disapproving of them is an insult! Them be's fightin' words! :x Heheh....

Re: Innernet

...so I'm from North Jersey (which I find interestingly enough that I say "North Jersey" rather than "Northern New Jersey"... bitter rivalry, I guess...) ... O well, c'est la vie... :wink: Oh! That's from the part of Canada that doesn't want to be part of Canada! :lol: North Jer...

Re: I know this should probably go in the Spelling Forum...

Does that mean he spells "village" as "vilage?" Pretty ville if you ask me. :lol: I have no idea why they would do that -- unless there's a recessive " ll " gene somewhere in our DNA. Actually, quite honestly, he has done something similar, spelling "millions"...

I know this should probably go in the Spelling Forum...

Though this strikes me as interesting: I was emailing my cousin in Georgia and he typed me a message about how his girlfriend's grandmother is very sick. He got into this long story about how she doesn't want her grandmother to die (like any normal human being wishes their relatives a long life) and...

Re: Misspelled Signs

http://pages.prodigy.net/pizzabagel/MisspelledSigns_001.htm I personally loved the sarcasm of whomever wrote the commentary to this. I'm quite embarrassed, though, because I didn't notice all of the mistakes at first! :oops: "Burgers" is the plural of "burger." Am I to assume th...

... I'm not so sure about that one. I travel fairly often and I've noticed that people do a double-take when I say "innernet" or "middens". ... Uh, Midden is something else altogether. Old mittens may end up in one ... Funny stuff, regional differences, eh? "Eh?" at th...

Well I dunno, it seems most times if someone is particular to accentuate the middle T of internet it's the exception rather than the rule, from what I hear. But it's robably worth a poll. Maybe I misunderstood your mittens though. If you're saying middens , that is indeed at variance with, for lack...

Japanese uses three types of writing, according to Wikipedia : The Japanese language is written with a combination of three different types of glyphs: Chinese characters (called kanji ), and two syllabic scripts, hiragana and katakana . The Latin alphabet (called rōmaji ) is also often used in mode...

I think you could say "¿Piensas que el tiempo pasa lentamente para tí?"
That sounds like it justifies what you're saying. Though it's not the exact phrase you're looking for.

...I think 'innernet' is fairly widespread lazy speech. I'm not so sure about that one. I travel fairly often and I've noticed that people do a double-take when I say "innernet" or "middens". They understand me but I never hear anyone else say it- especially in the South. I have...

Innernet

Ok, so I'm from North Jersey (which I find interestingly enough that I say "North Jersey" rather than "Northern New Jersey"... bitter rivalry, I guess...) Anyhow, everywhere I go around here, whenever the internet is mentioned in conversation, it is pronounced "innernet"...
