Here in Texas we say "whenever". Never thought much about it.

Examples:

Whenever you're ready fixing your hair, we can leave.
She'll have the money to you whenever she gets paid.
We get flash floods here whenever it rains like that.
I told him whenever he's ready for lunch to let me know.

Ahhh...southern tea--nectar of the gods and not for those with weak constitutions nor with a history of diabetes in the family. You can tell a Yankee (anyone not from the South) visiting the south when they ask for tea specifying that it be iced. Everyone down here KNOWS that iced is the way it was...

I'm not familiar with the author's name but I've seen the book. Funny stuff! I do remember Louis Grizzard, though, and enjoy his writings.

Grandpuppies, that's cute! My mother's third dog was uglier than a rat. He hit every branch on the way down the ugly tree! I guess he was a mutt of some kind, a chihuahua mix. He was tiny and mostly white with light reddish markings on his back. The hair on his head was silky soft and long but on th...

Maybe she was just hoping to get Christmas in July by saying "Dixen". Maybe It would have worked if she had asked for the one with the red nose instead. BTW: I couldn't get the link to work either. Uh, no, Huny, I don't think that was it! No, she wasn't saying Dixie-an...

I thought she was saying "Dixan" as an adjectival form of "Dixie" That's what I initially thought. She used it nearly every time. Just thought it sounded funny since in everything I've ever read pertaining to Dixie or anyone I've ever known from across the South, not once have I...

Did anyone else notice that Miss Newscaster kept referring to "Dixen" instead of "Dixie"? Was that just her mispronunciation? I've never heard anyone in all my life say Dixen. And she is supposedly from the South!

Now that's funny, wait until they start calling you sir. They just did. A boy stopped me on the street and asked, "Senhor, que horas são?" (Sir, what time is it?). I need not tell you I instantly remembered this thread. Brazilian dude As you may know from your visits here, Dude, it is a s...

I've never heard of tooken! My husband is from a small town in East Texas and always uses "carry" in that sense: "Will you carry me to the store?". He also uses "quieten", as in "Will you kids quieten down?", the "t" not being sounded. Also, "tu...

Hi all! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and just registered. 8) Huny, my dad was in the Air Force while I was growing up and we lived mostly in Europe but he did have a stint at Vandenberg AFB where I went to high school. When we first got there we were calling it "Lompock" until q...
