I just dropped off a blog entry on jet black and pitch black at http://www.alphadictionary.com/blog/?p=397.

Much like starve to death and drown to death.

p.s. After we starve or drown to death, will it be pitch black and pitch quiet in the tomb?

I read the blog, but don't know how to access your
entry. Sorry.

I notice I am called Luke-a-lele, when my registered name
on the site is LukeJavan8. I know you are responsible
for the -a-lele business, but now it has this site's
administration confused. Sorry saparris.

I think saparris was trying to quote Dr. Goodword, not making a reply to the blog, and forgot to put the quote in a box. Just click the Quote button in the post to which you are replying, then you can edit it any way you want, like splitting it into pieces to reply to it.

Well, you have to admit, your avatar is a lot larger than your handle.

[I've been called all sorts of things; just don't call me late for dinner.]

I hope this works: and by previewing it, it did. Thanks.
I have only been on computers for two years now, and
all the ins and outs of using them are really something
else. I wish they existed when I was growing up.

Yes, my avatar is quite large. It was smaller, but
saparris made it larger, I think to be able to see the name
on the hat. The " - a - lele" part is his too. He is so
clever.

Think of computers as typewriters on steroids, amphetamines, and cocaine. They'll do whatever you tell them to do, very quickly at times, even if it's now what you meant!

Even if you don't post a reply, you might want to hit the "quote" button in the upper right of someone's post sometimes just to see how they composed their reply. This is different than the Quote in the Post a reply screen. The "quote" button on the main page will quote the text of the entire message with all its associated BBCode, and will plop the poster's name at the top and put it in a box. The other Quote button do all but the name (unless you put it in yourself), and is usually to highlight something you're quoting from another post or article. You can always bail out of a reply without submitting it by clicking the link above the reply screen:
www.alphadictionary.com Forum Index -> Good Word Discussion
The first half takes you back to the Index, the second half back to whatever forum you were in.

Don't forget to click the BBCode link in the lower left corner of the "Post a reply" window to get a cheat sheet
for BBCode.

It's about the maximum size you want here. Some boards automatically reduce a larger image to the maximum allowed size; this one you have to reduce it yourself.
