Returning to mnemonics, I remember in band class learning "Every Good Boy Does Fine" as a way to remember the note that corresponds to the lines of the staff as well as the word "FACE" to remember the note that corresponds to the spaces of the staff. When I think of the solar system, to this day I recite to myself the nonsense word MVEMJSUNP (which I pronounce to myself muh-VEM-jay-SUN-pee). Btw, I know that Pluto is no longer considered a planet of our solar system but I still include it by force of habit. I also use the ROYGBIV for the rainbow. Like Slava said, you do have to have memorized the contents of the mnemonic. Interesting thread, ya'll!

EGBDF - Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge is how I learned it. Or at least remember it now.

I learned it as "does fine", but I like "deserves fudge" better,
yummy.
