Stochastic vs. empirical

Postby gwray » Thu May 30, 2013 2:48 pm

I agree that stochastic and deterministic are antonyms but I don't think that empirical and stocastic are. I could imagine coducting experiments on a stochastic phenomenon and using statistics to infer empirically a behaviour that I could not deduce from theory

I would agree they are not what I would call antonyms, more contrary in the logical sense than contradictory.
