would that it were closer.

I'm perpendicularly related to your position, if you draw a line first due west as far as you can go on land.

nope, ever pleasant mid-temp range. Washington State side of the Great Columbia sewer pipe, sitting by the dead Pacific sea... Lovely to look at, no matter the direction, but dangerous...

When you said "as far as you can go on land," my first thought was Point Roberts, that little dot of land you can't reach on land without going through Canada. Then I thought somewhere in southwest mainland Alaska, thus "frozenwaste-istan."

I understood, but was speaking to a question from one who lives in Texas... Due west would probably leave one a bit east of where I am, but I didn't go look at latitudes to see if it would.

but we have strayed a bit off topic, have we not?

Frozenwaste-istan? :)

Somehow missed your comment.
It's always frozen here, seems like more than half the year.
the "stan' from Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc. Means "Land"
in Arabic. My cynicism getting the best of me again.

Doesn't Nebraska have any hinterlands?

I thought the center of the country was entirely hinterland.
Don't ONLY the coasts matter?

Living in the hinterlands is a state of mind.

Nebraska is a synonym for 'hinterland'.
It's all hinter and yon.

I prefer living at the edge. Hinterland to my mind is content with status quo. Of course, the definition of status quo may be very different from mine...
