benchmark words

I am an obsessive reader of English language dictionaries as I suspect we all are. I like to use certain words as tests of what I might expect from a dictionary in terms of thoroughness of definition,synonym discussions, usage problems etc. The words I am currently using are "fulsome", "flaunt" and "eleemosynary".Any suggestions for others?
