Where did my dad get the pronunciation rānch for the words ranch, wrench and rinse? He was from the Big Thicket in southeast Texas and fairly well educated. No one else in the family pronounced those words that way. I have heard people say rānch for ranch.
“Out at the rānch I was using a twenty four inch pipe rānch when I rānched my back. Before I could go to the doctor I tried to rānch my hands but I had to use soap and wash them.”
