Where did my dad get the pronunciation rānch for the words ranch, wrench and rinse? He was from the Big Thicket in southeast Texas and fairly well educated. No one else in the family pronounced those words that way. I have heard people say rānch for ranch.

Dialectical variations are only traceable by experts with OCD I suspect. It also caught my attention that the consonants in all these words are similar. Ever since I began studying Hebrew which originally had no vowels, I began to notice how dropping vowels often shows similarities otherwise unnoticed. Might be worth tracing etymologies of each of these words to see if they correspond at some point.
