Ignoring Missouri and Oklahoma which have their own "issues."
What is the best source for American Great Plain dialect. Phonetics and common usage? Thanks!

I always thought the Kansas/Nebraska area was the source.

Google search doesn't help much, but you might try The Great Plains Region edited by Amanda Rees, 2004. Also look through the many publications by (or edited by) William Labov on American English dialects. The group at University of Pennsylvania is working on a Phonological Atlas of North America.
