I used this in a post recently and thought it might be a good word:

tad

PRONUNCIATION: tăd
NOUN: Informal 1. A small boy. 2. A small amount or degree; a bit.
IDIOM: a tad To a small degree; somewhat: acting a tad silly; a tad uncomfortable.
ETYMOLOGY: Perhaps short for tadpole.
Punnish usage: "The boy was a tad small."

Reminds me of Mr. Sheffield's son on The Nanny. He confided to Fran, the nanny, one day, that he felt uncomfortable in the locker room because he was too small. He was referring to his actual height and she thought it was something else, you know.

That must be the 'tad' in tadpole!
