A stubborn refusal to change one,s opinion, especially in political matters. This word come,s from ''stand pat'', which is a poker term.

Is this already a word, or are you suggesting that it should be one? Either way I like it. I can see it now. "I get so bored by standpatists. They are worse than standups with used jokes."

Hi Perry. It is in fact an established word. I saw it at wordsmith.org and m-w.com. It is indeed an interesting word.
