Storge

Postby Slava » Wed Apr 25, 2007 1:51 pm

(STORE-gee) The love of a parent for offspring.

A fun word, and a lot easier to remember than philoprogeneity.

Hmmm...my daughter didn't find it too warm and fuzzy when I told her I had a feeling of storge for her.

I wasn't familiar with this. Great word.

Then there was Gershwin's opera about a man's love for his daughter: Storge & Bess.

Then there was Gershwin's opera about a man's love for his daughter: Storge & Bess.
 -and when that work performed for its second time, critics said, "Gershwin: His Storge repeats itself"

(formerly titled "Bess' Storge" and renamed when the wrong element showed up...)
