Hypethral

Postby Grogie » Fri Jun 22, 2007 12:54 pm

I thought this word might be a nice one since yesterday was the first day of summer. It means ''in the open air''. ''They enjoyed some hypethral activities on a nice summer day.''

hypaethral
VARIANT FORMS: also hy·pe·thral
ADJECTIVE: Wholly or partly open to the sky: an ancient hypaethral temple.
ETYMOLOGY: From Latin hypaethrus, from Greek hupaithros : hupo, under; see hypo– +aithēr, sky, air.
that link to "hypo-" includes "In the lowest state of oxidation: hypoxanthine", which accurately describes the breathlessly high temperatures for our first day of summer yesterday.

Our hypaethral outing to the top of Lookout Mountain (7374') was quite temperate until after sunset and a sudden wind, when jackets suddenly became desirable again!

still marvelling at the anoxic bicyclists laboring in slo-mo up the hairpin turns...

In play: With the radio blasting rock and roll, our heros motored along in their hypethral T-bird, playing ethral guitar in sync to the rhythm.
"Time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening all at once. Lately it hasn't been working."

Perry, they're going to need either an ethral drummer or keyboardist on the front dashboard...
