    * To refrain from exacting, inflicting or enforcing.
    * To let slacken.
    * To submit for consideration.
    * To put back.
    * To put off, postpone.
    * To send in payment.
    * To give up.
n 1. The act of remitting 2. (British) The area of responsibility.

At the moment I am reading a few manuscripts for a couple of journals and found n.2, which I thought was an unusual term.

Perhaps they should be in this order? :)
