Monstrescence

Postby Grogie » Mon Nov 05, 2007 2:43 pm

An expression of one,s personal worldview(such as a certain style of clothing, a certain kind of hairdo, a slogan on a T-shirt etc, etc.) Quite an interesting word.

So if I disapproved of a hairdo, I could call it a monstrous monstrescence?

It seems to me that one's worldview may be somewhat limited if it can be summed up by one's dress or appearance.

Great word!

Well for the most part, the only hairdos that get my knickers in a wad are comb-overs.

Agree it's a useful word, and one new to me. Like excrescence, it seems to have some negative connotations. The world view most often expressed seems to be "I'm unique, just like everyone else".
@ Perry, agree on the comb-over. Someone should tell guys to stop doing that, please. Baldness shows character, hiding it not so much.

Then I have character by the barrel-full.
