Certainly worth a revisit. Originally suggested by an Agoric who seems to have deleted herself, aye but long ago.
Also tangentially mentioned by Dr. G in the entry on Karma, noted to derive from Sanskrit karoti "performs, does, acts", that is to say, an action that has consequences. ... related to Latin creare "to create". In Russian we find chary "magic" and charovat' "to charm, enchant"
And reprinted by kind permission from Bailey's previouly suggested Vagary:
A plague on this vagary,
I'm in a nice quandary -
Of hasty tone with dames unknown,
I ought to be more chary;
It seems that she's a fairy
From Andersen's library,
And I took her for the proprietor
Of a La-dies' Se-mi-nary!
-W.S. Gilbert, Iolanthe Act I finale (1882)

Stop! Murder us not, tonsured rumpots! Knife no one, fink!
That has the cadence of a Gilbert and Sullivan

The consequence is a hands-down decision.Perhaps Perry can answer this deep thought:... noted to derive from Sanskrit karoti "performs, does, acts", that is to say, an action that has consequences. ...
If the karoti is an open-handed action, does the consequence wield a closed fist?
"Time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening all at once. Lately it hasn't been working."
