Fraught

Postby Slava » Thu Apr 17, 2008 2:22 pm

I've almost always used this one with "with," so I'm often thrown a bit when it's used alone. However, it's a great one, I do believe.

From Merriam-Webster:
1archaic a: laden b: well supplied or provided
2: full of or accompanied by something specified —used with with<a situation fraught with danger>
3: causing or characterized by emotional distress or tension : uneasy <a fraught relationship>

Fraughtfully good word, mate (though I'd expect a different meaning in spoken Strine).

OK, I'm picking at the low-hanging fraught here...
Stop! Murder us not, tonsured rumpots! Knife no one, fink!
