I can't find this word in any dictionary on the web. Is it a real word? Am I spelling it wrong? Am I loosing my mind?

Does it mean stealthfully or slyly?

Looks like a bizarre misspelling of surreptitiously to me...

Thanks, Tim! (I guess I did loose my mind, temporarily!)

Not so bizarre as a mere transposition . . .

Could you have come up with this spelling because some people pronounce surreptitiously with emphasis on the second sylabyl? where many of us in the US pronounce it with the emphasis on the third?

OK, Larry, I admit, 'bizarre' was a rather strong modifier in this case... ;)

Maybe I should take a run at this one. I'll bet there are a lot of people out there who have a sense of this word but have difficulty keeping up with its syllables. It has a noble and interesting ancestry, too; related to 'raptor'.

I'll try to squeeze it into March; otherwise, early April.
