Camerate

Postby Grogie » Thu Jan 28, 2010 5:10 pm

To build in the form of a vault or arch. To divide into chambers. ''The architectural firm camerated the new building.''

It sounds more like new-speak for taking pictures. "The architectural firm took pictures of the new building."

That was my first impression as well, turning the
word 'camera' into a verb. Interesting word, though.

Of course, camera originally came from the word for chamber. What we now call a camera, that whole geshmeer, first meant the box (chamber) the film was in.

I believe my distinguished colleague from Frozenwasteistan refers to the bicameral legislature?

CUTE!
Frozenwastesistan.
I am changing it to that.

Yes, bicameral legislature.
Here in Frozenwasteistan we have the nation's only
UNICAMERAL Legislature. They call themselves
'senators', whereas they are actually representatives,
elected from districts based somehow on population.
Was supposed to save money at first, but boy can they
spend it. The two chambers are still in the capitol
building, of course, the "unused" one for committee
meetings and to show off on tours.
