Drupe

Postby Slava » Sat Dec 11, 2010 1:54 pm

I came across this one in a book today and thought I'd share. As much for the definition as for anything else.

Drupe -
an indehiscent fruit consisting of outer epicarp, fleshy or fibrous mesocarp, and stony endocarp enclosing a single seed, as in the peach, plum, and cherry
There is also a diminutive form, druplet:
a little drupe, as one of the individual pericarps composing the blackberry.
I'll leave it for you to look up pericarp.

Hope you like it.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
