bowdlerize

Postby sardith » Mon Jul 11, 2011 12:55 pm

Hello Dr. Goodword,

I thought that today would be appropriate to ask you to do a column on the eponym, bowdlerize, since it is the 257th anniversary of Thomas Bowdler's birth.

Was it really his sister, Harriet, that did the actual expurgating? Maybe Shakespeare's works were 'Harrietized', after all.

Have a great week,
Sardith

Excellent suggestion. I can't believe it hasn't come our way before.
