While she smiled and spoke sweetly, pretending no interest somehow her motives were transpicuous as she watched the cookie jar.

How different from transparent?

Transpicuous seems to be a better word than transparent to describe non-literal transparency. I will use it henceforth and relegate transparent to the literal, as in transparent glass.
