facetiously
This is one of only two English words to contain all vowels (including Y) as they appear in the alphabet. This word, also, it seems to me, should be used not just to describe a funny comment, but an inappropriate funny comment. Is that correct?

Re: facetiously
Facetious has long been a favorite adjective, William, and that's no joke! I hear a nuance of snark when it's used; facetious humor is intentional to a given situation and can be a little barbed.

Re: facetiously
"And sometimes Y and W," or so I was taught. Thus, the word includes one more vowel, altho out of order. Whether snide or not can depend on context. A great deal of my deadpan humor includes an impish, not devilish, facetiousness. Which, btw, is sometimes misunderstood, even on this board.

Re: facetiously
PL, were you being facetious here, or was that just a perfectly timed typo?
My take on facetious is that it does not have to contain humor at all. Though that does push it closer to snide.

Re: facetiously
Typo? I saw no typo even on review. But I can stare at grocery shelves and ask a passerby for help to find something right in front of me. So...what typo?
