I just ran across this word and am interested if anyone has had contact with it previously.

It is frequently used in religious circles. Someone might say for example "the salvific importance of the cross comes from…" I would not say it is a common word, but anyone who reads serious religious stuff will encounter it now and then.

As with Perry, this word is familiar to me. It simply means, "that which is able to save". To a Christian, the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus is the necessary and sufficient salvific truth.
