explicate
This word was provoked by my daily study of Spanish. The infinitive in Spanish for "to explain" is "explicar". For a Germanic language English has borrowed heavily from Latin (about 50%) and her daughters. It strikes me how relatively (another Spanish similacrum) easy it is to build up a Spanish vocabulary. Conjugating verbs is another issue.

Re: explicate
One of the things I enjoy about language is how words are related and interconnect. Explicate is related to ply, just as eleemosynary and alms are.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
