vexillology
I am vexed why the word vexillology does not share a common root with vexatious.

Re: vexillology
Who knows, they just might, only we don't know the root of the Latin root of vex. Or at least I didn't find it. If vex means to agitate and disturb, and a flag needs to be agitated to wave, maybe there is some vague link there. Folk etymology, most likely, but it sounds good.
