qualm

I have only seen and used this in the plural - qualms. It appears that this is one of those rare words in the English language that has an English origin! Imagine that!

Good word. I wonder if all or most of our qu words are from O.E.? Quell and quench both are.

More often plural, but sometimes without a qualm.

Slava. I like your question about an OE link to qu words. I have not examined the issue further, but all of those Latin question words with "qu" became "w" in German and English? I wonder "quare" - why.
