spiel
Was ist löss? What gives? The root of this word in German, I think, is from "spielen", the infinitive meaning "to play". Whereas, spiel in English means " speak in a glib manner". But glib is also Germanic, glibber, meaning jelly, which, in turn is part of the group of "gl" words for smooth, shining and joyful.

Re: spiel
Another one I don't think I've ever seen as a verb, just as a noun. A salesperson's spiel, yes, but a salesperson spieling a spiel? Nay.
It does pass muster in the old spellcheck, however. Hmm.
