rumbustious

I know this sturdy word has been suggested in the past, but I can't see it in the Dictionary. The possible link to the oak tree surprised me.

Since rum comes from sugar or molasses, could it refer to a sugaroak? :-)

I mention it in rambunctious. It is an early variant of this word.

Doc, you used a very nice turn of phrase in that word study:

This word is a facetious concoction that managed to stick to the language like oatmeal to the ribs.

Rumbustious is still the usual British version.
