AEIPATHY

According to the Phrontistery's Lost Words:
aeipathy n 1847 -1853
continued passion; an unyielding disease
Her aeipathy for stamp collecting bordered at times on the pathological.
And I half wonder if the expression yippee! couldn't be derived from the assimilation between the first and second syllables of this fine word...

I found Grogie's "stiricide" there too!

"Agh! These Alpha-Agorans and their aeipathy for etymology!"

Does anyone recognize the "aei-" part of this?

Alas, the Online Etymology Dictionary only has:
yippee
interjection of pleasure, etc., 1920.
But I do remember the yippies of my youth! (Another stroll down the 60s Counter-cultural lane for Henri! :wink: )

And we won't mention John McClane's (Bruce Willis) comeback in Die Hard when the villain, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) said, "Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mister Cowboy?"
