I know this word because I,m an avid watcher of news programs on the CBC. Sunny and the other Canadian Agorans will know it. It refers to the local district that a polititian represents. It,s such an interesting word that I wanted the rest of the world to know it.

The fun thing about this word, Grogie, is that it is completely unrelated to the homonymic noun which the unwary is likely to assume to be its source. This is what the American Heritage Dictionary has to say :

rid·ing[sup]2[/sup] Listen: [ rīdǐng ]
n.

1. An administrative division or electoral division in Canada.

2. Any one of three former administrative divisions of Yorkshire, England.
