A simple dictionary search reveals that "grow" is either transitive or intransitive. So what's all this old bollocks about, really?

Hm...and I thought they were "lexed vis'ters".here be vexed listers...
Thanks for stating so clearly what I was trying to say!A simple dictionary search reveals that "grow" is either transitive or intransitive. So what's all this old bollocks about, really?
And Doc, thanks for restating what I was saying.Grow is just another in a growing series of words that are being transitivized. I still find it hard to swallow "graduate high school", though wait (on) tables and attend (to) those in need are beginning to sink in.
We don't seem to like prepositions, that's true.
Are you saying now that it is wrong?but that doesn't mean it's not wrong when other people use it.
I don't think he's not saying that. Keep in mind you have to read Malachai irregardless of double negatives. Are you saying now that it is wrong?but that doesn't mean it's not wrong when other people use it.
AGREED. Phew, we're outta here. What I wrote was confusing, wasn't it? How about: you may find certain phrases distasteful, but the fact that other people use them means that they are comprehensible and normal for those speakers.
While I would agree that it may be normal for those speakers, I wouldn't necessarily agree that they are comprehensible. What I wrote was confusing, wasn't it? Let's not quibble over prefixes; change a couple letters and you've got reprehensible. While I would agree that it may be normal for those speakers, I wouldn't necessarily agree that they are comprehensible.
I know, I'm a curmudgeon--sometimes willingly and purposely!
