I'm just too happy that we're all back. There are several schemes on different boards to get to new posts or active topics or whatever. I really liked the 10 last posts, but OTOH it sometimes made me overlook the 11th-15th last posts hidden by newcomers (and I really tried to check out at least twice a day).

Anyway, I'm so happy about being able to use UNICODE that I can forgive most anything else.

10 Recent Posts via RSS Feed

Postby ashaffer » Tue Feb 22, 2005 8:16 pm

Hiya,

I've installed a modification to the forum software which exports an RSS feed. If you're using Firefox or Mozilla you can hot-bookmark the feed (the orange icon in the lower-right-hand corner), or you can use another RSS reader. The feed is at http://www.alphadictionary.com/bb/rss.php. I'm working on finding/writing a "10 most recent posts" page, but I'm not super familiar with the programming language used in the software, so it will take me a little time.

Recent Posts List

Postby ashaffer » Tue Feb 22, 2005 8:59 pm

Hi,

It's kinda cumbersome, but if you abuse the search function and use this link:
http://www.alphadictionary.com/bb/searc ... keywords=*
You can see recent posts. Try this out - if it turns out to do what it seems to do at first glance, I'll add it to the top set of links.

When I clicked the link, it showed me all the posts, in descending order by time and date.

But I think you're definitely on the right track.

Hi,

http://www.alphadictionary.com/bb/searc ... =tenrecent

Should work better. It will still offer pages of posts at the bottom and a post count at the top, but they can be safely ignored. Is there anything needs to be changed?

LOL... thanks for bringing Apo's quote back to the fore, Katy. I missed that the first time 'round.

And I would like to echo Katy's sentiments as regards the site, Andrew. Wonderful job!

To simplify references to earlier postings on threads containing a large number of messages, it would be helpful if each contribution to a given thread was provided with a number corresponding to the order in which it was posted. If memory doesn't fail, this was done on the ydc agora, so doing so shouldn't present insurmountable difficulties. What says ashaffer ?...

Andrew,
=
A font face tag could be handy, e. g.:

Code: Select all

[face=Times]Times New Roman[/face] [face=Arial]Arial[/face] [face=serif]Serif[/face] [face=sans]Sans-Serif[/face]
Or even a generalized font tag:

Code: Select all

[font face=Times size=Large color=Red/#FF0000]text[/font]
I also found the [sub]subscript[/sub] and [sup]superscript[/sup] that yDc's Agora had to be handy at times.

Thx Andrew, for effecting the above redefinition.
