Uh, not sure how to ask this but- how do you know when it's half?

This reminds me of a quip my brother made once. I had been in Israel for 23 years at that time (before returning to the States, I was there for 25 years), and had moved there when I was 22. This caused my brother to remark, "I see that you have chosen longevity over symmetry".

The Christmas Plans were rudely revised when we all woke up to unnecessary drifts o'snow. My brother's community got about 9". It melted enough today that they -- and all their cabin-crazed neighbors - were out bagging post-Xmas bargains on tchotchkies for next year. (The advantages of being the Official Family Heretic is that you are absolved of having to participate in this madness.)

We met for lunch and loot exchange so they could head back home before getting hit with another snow this evening. We went to the Olive Garden, which was, as you all know, a traditional favorite of the Holy Family. (I secretly said my 'grace' to the FSM. arrrrr!)

Simon and Garfunkel wrote a haunting song about the Sounds of Silence. If written today, it would be the Sounds of Snow Shovels.

To cars with skis on in the morning.
The news said, “The traffic on I-25 is slowing to a crawl.
Slow down, y’all.
And watch out for the sounds of snowplows."

Wonderful poem Gail. Roger (Sluggo's secret identity), nice photos. My lawn was barely dusted with snow, and nothing on the streets. As a matter of fact, yesterday was sunny and I was kicking myself for believing the forecast for rain, and therefore not cycling to work. (My brother gave me an old mountain bike and after a 30 year hiatus from bicycles I am really getting into it.)

nice photos, Slugger. If you rarely get snow it's a delight, so far we haven't been able to hang on to the little we've got. Snow, while not my favorite thing, does help my poor landscape to 'weather' the harsh low temps of winter. I have some newer plants in my latest garden that need the protection.

Ain't snow, we know, but as Mark notes it's all we got, and who knows if we get any more on the east side of the Apps while the Rockies, those punk upstarts hog it all these kids today...
