. . .Dude? "chica?"

Katy
Chica = girl, mon amie.
I don't doubt that Katy knows this, but I suppose I would have reacted in a similar way if somebody had called me, 62, "kid" or "boy". Or, maybe, we should regard such labels as praise of our still being young at heart?

Well, I speak no Portuguese, so the original came from the SYSTRANet link on the AlphaDictionary site, which has this admonishment:
Remember, only trained human professionals can provide perfect translations.

Then again, a friend of mine told me that long ago, an early translation of a Japanese motorcycle manual had the following admonition:
Beware the wet curve, for therein lurks the skid demon.
Which is actually a pretty poetic way to put it!

By way of review:
OK, here's a geography question.

Name the northernmost, southernmost, westernmost, and eastermnost states of the United States of America.

Answers will be posted in a day or so to give time for guesses.
And the answers are:

It's a simple question of geography, latitude, longitude, and map-reading skills. Many people think in terms of the Continental or Coterminus United States, not the 50 United States, so they pick Maine for North and East, Florida for South, and Califorina, Oregon, or Washington for West, but the correct answers are:

Northernmost: Alaska, Barrow is above the Arctic Circle, much father North than Maine.

Southernmost: Hawaii Hawaii is farther south than Cuba. In this case, the OneLook Dictionary is wrong!

Westernmost: Alaska

Easternmost: Alaska

Now the question is: How can Alaska be both the Easternmost and the Westernmost state?

The Aleutian Island chain in Alaska crosses the 180 degree meridian, so some of the Aleutians have an Eastern Longitude, placing them East of the Atlantic coast states.
