You'll have to ask Tim, He's the back formation etymology expertHahaha, this is the first time I've seen a German word ending in a consonant whose plural takes an umlaut plus EN. (I would have expected only E at the end, but what do I know?) That must be a really special word of yours. I'm sure it comes from Nahuatl, though.
