Since someone mentioned rappers: There was a producer/record company owner in the 80s and 90s named Aaron Fuchs. Apparently he got tired of comments, because towards the end of his company's run his named appeared in credits as "Fox.
No offense to the Fuchs family, but Fox is much better. Life's too short to be Aaron Fuchs, Harry Guy, or the like.

His name was not "Lastname", I just put that in for
privacy purposes. Just thought I'd let you know.
That one had me confused. :?

In my mind I was putting together a Who's On First type routine:
Last name?

Yes.

Yes, what?

That's my last name.

What's your last name?

No, not What, Lastname...
...and so on in that vein...

Also reminded me of a joke: Some years ago, while Ellis Island was still in use, a Chinese immigrant with a noticeable accent had the name John Wellington, and was often asked how he wound up with that name.

He said, "I entered the country through Ellis Island, and I was in line behind a distinguished white-haired gentleman from Scotland named John Wellington. When it came my turn, they asked my name. I told them, and my name was recorded as 'John Wellington.'"

When asked what name he had given, he smiled and said, "Sem-t'ing." :D

I wonder how many others became Fox as well. I don't
blame them, however. Note the "L" in Schiltz. Had a
classmate with that name once: no end of harrassment.

Some names from other languages lend themselves to humor, which is why people make fun of the names of oriental restaurants. That's understandable. Even last names in Western cultures are often funny.

However, if your name in Snap and you name you daughter Ginger, you should be forced to explain your reasoning to everyone you meet for the rest of your life.

Had a kid in class once named Robin Hood. Don't know
why parents do that to their kids. Caused lots
of heckling.

Poor girl. Life is hard enough without silly parents.

It is interesting to note that Dweezil Zappa, born Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa, actually had his name legally changed to Dweezil.

"Fuchs" is the German word for "fox", so the change makes sense.

Not being a speaker of German, I am glad to know that,
thanks.
