Group Poem Exercise X

This will be a 24-line poem consisting of 4 six-line stanzas. The six lines of each stanza will be iambic, with the following pattern of syllables: 10, 10, 6, 10, 10, 6. The rhyme scheme will be AABCCB, DDEFFE etc. (So the two shorter lines of each stanza will rhyme with each other.)
As in an earlier Group Poem (Exercise IV), we will include Goodwords from the past year. Each of the longer lines should contain one such word. Any form of a word (plural, past tense etc) will be acceptable. Please bold the Goodword. (You don't have to include such a word in the shorter lines, but you can if you wish.)
Saparris has suggested the theme of Thanksgiving for this poem. Although this is not celebrated in the UK, I am happy to accept his suggestion. You can, if you wish, include matters of only tangential relevance, provided you return firmly to the Thanksgiving theme at the end.
So here is the title and first line:
THANKSGIVING
The sedulous and godly folk of yore

The sedulous and godly folk of yore
Departed Plymouth’s sloughs for Plymouth’s shore

The voyagers, with pertinacious will,
Soon breathed supernal air.
