Roaming through Digg tonight, I came on an article discussing multiple choices for Word of the Year, some of which I never heard. You might be interested to check it out and comment, perhaps with your choice for TWOTY. To my mind it should be a fairly new term or an old one that developed a new use, such as fiscal cliff. Two or three word phrases seem to qualify.

GIF? Wow, are those Oxford-types off their rockers!
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.

Gif will never match Google as a word. I prefer jpg. We need a word of the year that has wider appeal than just to computer nerds. I might vote for fiscal cliff.
It is dark at night, but the Sun will come up and then we can see.
