I thought everyone might want to know about the American National Corpus. The address is
www.americannationalcorpus.org. The website includes a link to the British National Corpus.

My turn to be pedantic. According to my printed dictionary, shouldn't that be
corpora? (4th Declension Nominative (or Accusative, as the object of
like) Plural?)

But I didn't want plural, I would have used it if I had wanted to.
Don't touch me.

And corpus is a third declension noun, genitive singular in is: corporis. The fourth declension has genitive in -us, such as lacus, lacus.

Ah, but the rest of the sentence was in the plural:
I like corpus, especially if they are females'.
Brazilian dude
Shouldn't it have then been:
I like [a] corpus, especially if it is a female's.

I'll have to check the dictionary when I get home. It had
corpus, corporis, in the dictionary entry. Back in the declension tables, it had
opus, operis in 4th declension as I recall with
opera for the Nom and Acc plurals.

Opus and corpus are both 3rd declension neuter nouns. Plural nominatives and accusatives are opera and corpora.

Shouldn't it have then been:
Quote:
I like [a] corpus, especially if it is a female's.
Maybe, but that wouldn't have had the same effect to Romance language speakers, I think, who wouldn't think immediately of corpo, cuerpo, corp, corps, etc.
