Res Diversae

Postby Brazilian dude » Tue Nov 22, 2005 5:36 pm

I was thinking now (that does happen every once in a while). Although Res Diversae is perfectly good Latin, the same could simply be expressed by neuter plural: Diversa.

While most likely this is true, the Res does add a bit of formality to the phrase. Also, we do need to figure out why the phrase is the way it is, and not the shorter version. Someone chose it, and it stuck? Too simple for my tastes. I expect there's a perfectly good reason behind the choice of the two words over the one.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
