The Museum of the Portuguese Language, unique in its kind, will be open on March 20 at Estação da Luz, in São Paulo, which, with its 10 million inhabitants, is the most populated city in the Portuguese-speaking world, in excess of 200 million people.

This site does still exist, though it has not developed much at all. Many of the links lead back to the original page, and most of it is plain links, without any design elements at all. It also has no other languages available, such as French, Russian, Japanese, English, German. Why does the museum have no interest in attracting readers from other cultures? Isn't that one of the main ideas of a museum in the first place, at least on the Internet?

Needs work, as the majority of the world can't read it. Even 4 years later.

Well, the museum is located in São Paulo! Even our vaunted Smithonian Institution's web site is in (American) English, although there are descriptions of the 19 museums in six different languages. There're also headsets for self-guided tours available in four languages for two museums and scheduled foreign-language tours at others. But on the Web, it's "Léanlo en inglés / Lisez-le en anglais / Прочитано ему в английском / 读它用英语 / Gelesen ihm auf englisch / 英語のそれ読まれる / 영어로 그것이라고 읽는 / يقرأ هو في إنجليزيّ." (Read it in English!)

Hey Slava, howdy do Starg[a|ee]zer ?!
The link posted by Brazilian Dude is rotten. Shame on you, Dude ! The museum has its own website at which, to be honest, I didn't bother to take a good look yet. Doesn't seem to be much better than the other, anyway. Here it is : http://www.museudalinguaportuguesa.org.br

Regards.

Howdy-do WQ! Welcome back to the fold. We do need more active posters, so don't hold back.

Thanks for the new link to the museum. It's a lot better looking than the one BD put up 4 years ago. I do find it odd that it doesn't have and other languages available, though. I would have thought that such sites would always have at least 2 or 3 of the major languages as options. Why put up such a site and ignore the rest of the world?
