I thought of sharing this precious gem culled from the not so popular Catalan language with you guys:

fart (m)

(fig.) Excés de qualsevol cosa.
<Ens vam fer un fart de riure, aquella nit, amb en Manel.>
<Tot l'estiu m'he fet uns farts d'estudiar per poder passar el curs.>

[Etimologia -- Del llatí «fartus», participi de «farcire», 'farcir'. Altres paraules que tenen el mateix origen són 'farsa', 'farciment', 'infart' i 'farsant'.]

Què hem de demanar als novel·listes? Que no es continguen, que no facen dels seus relats un gènere anèmic en què es conte amb poques veus i sense alé. No hi
ha fart de paraules.

My father first went to Europe by boat, the standard means of getting there at the time. Some of his fellow passengers were students of German, and tried to use it on occasion. As they were pulling into port, one woman exclaimed, "That was the longest fahrt I've ever had!"
