do you know if there are any plans afoot to reissue this work in a alphabetically-ordered version ?...
On line there's the downloadable Chinese edition (scanned, alphabetical order) of low quality. If you are interested, I'll post URL of the Болъшой китайско-русский словарь and of the special reader. I don't know anything about plans to print a new paper edition (maybe becouse many people think that it is obsolete)

Please do, Yuri, and thanks ! My Russian is worse than lousy, but access to this dictionary, which I have heard highly praised, might convince me to take it up again....

Yuri, I dutifully registered as a member of Мир Языка, etc, but was unable to download, or even access, the dictionary. Every time I tried, I got a request to fill in my user name and password at http://files.polusharie.com/files/. I attempted to go to http://polusharie.com/ and register, but failed, most likely because of my lack of Russian. Is registration and use free, and if so, might I ask you to guide me a bit of the way through the labyrinth ?...

Was it a pop-up with the keys picture ?
Have you typed file (as username)
download (as password)?
If it doesn't work, it's possible to me to send via e-mail

Thanks, Yuri ! When I entered «file» as user name and «download» as password, I was indeed able to download the DaHanECiDian, all 300 MB of it ! But - why is there always a «but» ? - I can't make use of it. What I have now on my desktop is a link to a file folder containing 3225 pdg files, which Windows doesn't recognise, one dat and one log file, resp, which are illegible, and a doc file which gives the title of the work in Chinese graphs. How does one proceed to look up things in the dictionary ? Hope you don't mind my once again turning to you for aid !...

Have you downloaded the special reader http://boox.sitaphi.com/ ?
In this file there's the ultimate link to the reader

Farther I asked a computer-competent man to help me to make a CD-ROM. that's all. But if you try maybe you won't need any help

After copying http://boox.sitaphi.com/, and unzipping the file, I finally have mamaged to gain access to the pdg files I downloaded previously. Many, many thanks, Yuri ! The funny thing is that when I click on the booX viewer icon, I am presented with an indecipherable text, which no amount of fiddling with the decoding options offered by Micro$oft can make legible, and then asked to choose between «Yes» and «No». Cautious as I am, I, of course, choose «No», and am then sent directly to the viewer, which has a large number of options in the toolbar, all of which are explained by a groups of question marks, either two or four at a time ! I really do wish I could read them, as there are certain adjustments, regarding such things as degree of text magnification, which I should love to be able to make ! But the most important thing, of course, is that I now have access to the dictionary. If only my Russian were better !...

Don't you see magnifying-glass icons? I have questions-marks, too. Try to consult an expert.

I did indeed see the magnifying glass icons - but they don't work quite as I expected them to ! Instead of providing access to a series of step-wise increases or decreases in magnification, each of them seems to provide only a fixed ratio. That's why I'm so interested in trying to read all those indecipherable messages. But despite all these difficulties I remain very pleased to have gained access to the dictionary, and thank you once again for your patient help, Yuri....
