Uncommonly Appropriate Partnerships
We are about to link a new page with uncommonly appropriate business partnerships, like our old Cook, Book, and Hyde Accountants. There are many, many more we just haven't thought up. Suggestions, as always, are encouraged.

I remember seeing that firm on a Three Stooges episode, so it dates back a ways.

I found another company reference, dating from 1964, at Wikipedia today in the entry on Blivet:
Yes, yes, I know a blivet, or blibbet, is 10 pounds of , uh, "stuff" in a 5 pound bag, but this device was also referenced in the article, and I chose it for the mythical engineering firm.
Paradoxical graphic figure
In yet another usage, illustrated above, the blivet is an undecipherable figure. It appeared on the March 1965 cover of Mad magazine, where it was dubbed the poiuyt (the last six letters on the top row of the typewriter keyboard, right to left), and has appeared numerous times since then. An anonymously-contributed version described as a hole location gauge was printed in the June 1964 issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact, with the comment that "this outrageous piece of draftsmanship evidently escaped from the Finagle & Diddle Engineering Works".

Along the lines of inappropriate partnership names--there was a business in Santa Rosa, CA in the early 1980s called "Bottles and Bolts". It was a combination hardware store/liquor store. Sounds like a dangerous combination.
"This is not a pipe" reminds me of the sign--"Do Not Read This Sign"...
