Leases & Life

Postby Slava » Wed Jun 25, 2008 11:07 pm

So, is it:

Lease on life

or

Lease of life

?

As in, a new one.

I've only ever heard new lease on life. Of course, that only makes it correct in my eyes.

I would only say "lease on"

"I have a one-year lease on my Lexis"
"The landlord cancelled the lease on my apartment"

I can think of no context in which I would say "lease of"

'Fraid not--there's no warranty. You can of course purchase a warranty (it's called Health Insurance), but even it never covers all possibilities.
