Some may find the obituary of Laurence Urdang interesting.

The quote
This is not a succedaneum for satisfying the nympholepsy of nullifidians. Rather it is hoped that the haecceity of this enchiridion of arcane and recondite sesquipedalian items will appeal to the oniomania of an eximious Gemeinschaft whose legerity and sophrosyne, whose Sprachgefühl and orexis will find more than fugacious fulfillment among its felicific pages.

We philologues have obviously lost a great mind on Mr. Urdangs passing.

Re the obituary: isn't nullifidians a wonderful alternative to infidals?

The next time the little woman rebuffs an amorous advance I shall explain that I suffer from nympholepsy, for which there is only one cure.

In the original post in the NYT site, double-clicking on most of the words in the last paragraph will bring up a definition. A few won't. He was obviously a man who didn't eschew obfuscation, at least in his book introductions.
