aibohphobia and other fears

Postby gailr » Thu Jan 17, 2008 8:07 am

My search did not locate a thread dedicated to fears.
So let's start one...

aibohphobia is the fear of palindromes

Palindrome

Why isn't palindrome a palindrome?
You do know that I've put together a reliable list of fears, don't you. You may also suggest additions.

My first suggestion is to tell us why "aibohphobia" doesn't make the list. Is it a real phobia, or just a potential word someone dreamed up?

I noted at least one typographical error in the little bit I looked at: athazagoraphobia forgetfulness or being forgotton.

A reverse list would be really helpful. A way of looking up a fear by the fear, not the name of the fear. As in: Search for Fear of: ????, leads to the word.

A breakdown of the reason behind the meaning would be great, too. Just why does athazagoraphobia mean what it does? Leading back to aibohphobia, and why it doesn't rank.

I don't have chrometophobia. But what do you call it when money seems to be afraid of me?

Perhaps your money needs psychological help to get over what sounds like a bad case of perryphobia.

It's getting worse. Now employers seem to be afraid of having me, as well. :?
